🔥 We’re now entering Birak, the Noongar season of heat, sun, and fire – represented by the colour red.
This time of year sees the easing of rain and a rise in warmth, with easterly winds in the morning and cooling sea breezes in the afternoon. Traditionally, it’s a time of mosaic burning – a cultural practice used by Noongar people to care for Country by reducing fuel, supporting new growth, and aiding movement.
Keep an eye out for fledgling birds, shedding reptiles, and young frogs transforming into adults.
We’re grateful to work and connect on Wardandi Noongar boodja (Country) and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land.
